We want everyone who visits the Lumos website to feel welcome and find the experience rewarding

Lumos strives to make its services accessible and usable for all users. The Lumos website has features that allow its users to find the information they need in the way they find easiest.

To help us make the Lumos website a positive place for everyone, we’ve been using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and user friendly for everyone.

This website has been built to comply with World Wide Web Consortiums (WCAG) 2.0 standards and has been through rigorous testing with the  Digital Accessibility Centre.

 

Keyboard navigation

  • Logical and consistent navigation are provided for keyboard users.
  • Our logo links to the home page
  • Site search facilities have been implemented

 

Images

Some images have descriptive alternative text and some decorative images have no alternative text. Where appropriate, alternative text (or alt tags) provide screen reader users and those with images turned off with a description of the content of the picture.

 

Text and sound alternative to video

Lumos use YouTube or Vimeo to host video content on the website. Guidance on using screen readers with YouTube and Vimeo can be found here.

 

Downloadable files

Links to downloadable files in our Resources and Reports area our Knowledge Portal will have the following associated information:

  • Filename (File Type, File Size) 
  • For example: Application Form (PDF, 1.7 MB) 

We have made files available to download in a variety of formats. The most common are:

  • Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) 
  • Microsoft Word (.doc)
