Supporting Ukrainian families since 2013
When the crisis in Ukraine began in February 2022, we raised an urgent call for action to support children, and you responded.
However, our work in Ukraine began well before then—over a decade ago, and our vision to see care reform in the region hasn’t waivered since.
Now, as we look to the future, we are focussed on helping families with emergency assistance, while paving the way for long-term change to help vulnerable children.

Supporting Ukrainian families since 2013
When the crisis in Ukraine began in February 2022, we raised an urgent call for action to support children, and you responded.
However, our work in Ukraine began well before then—over a decade ago, and our vision to see care reform in the region hasn’t waivered since.
Now, as we look to the future, we are focussed on helping families with emergency assistance, while paving the way for long-term change to help vulnerable children.

What’s next for our work in Ukraine?
$1.7m investment into child and family support
We have identified at least 36,590 vulnerable returnee, displaced, and non-displaced children and their families who have been affected by the conflict. This significant investment will create the protection, inclusive education and mental health assistance needed to keep families together and best help children live as normal lives as possible during an uncertain time.
We will also assist in delivering cash assistance, protection and mental health support to 14,090 vulnerable families and children—including those with disabilities or have previously been in the care system.
This large-scale project is being supported by dedicated and generous partners including Ukraine without Orphans, Ukraine Humanitarian Fund and UHF.
$1m investment in emergency aid & long-term change
This multi-year programme is designed to meet the most immediate needs of families who need food, protection, educational resources and mental health support by providing them with urgent aid.
In addition, our dedicated team in Ukraine will work with changemakers to support care reform at the local, regional and national level so our long-term vision of comprehensive child welfare and protection systems are delivered. This will be further boosted by our advocacy efforts to demonstrate the benefits of long-term systematic change.

What’s next for our work in Ukraine?
$1.7m investment into child and family support
