We have been horrified by the latest outbreak of violence in the Middle East and we are deeply concerned about the unfolding situation and its impact on all children. We know that conflict is a key driver of the separation of children from their families. The targeting, abduction, maiming and killing of children is unconscionable. International humanitarian law is clear: children need special protection and the structures and services that afford them protection need to be safeguarded.
